Business Portraits Dress Guidelines

Come to your portrait session with a positive attitude and feeling good about yourself. Solid colors are the best. Avoid large or bold patterns and bright colors. Coordinate from head to toe. Darker clothing tend to minimize body size. If eye glasses are to be worn, the lenses will be removed, or you can bring a similar pair without the lenses.

Ladies

If possible, cut out jacket shoulder pads. They look great for fashion, but in portraits, they make ladies shoulders look larger. Please wear a long sleeve garment. Jewelry is fine, if not too large. A vee or scoop neck is best if your neck is short and face is full. A high neck garment is flattering if your neck is longer and your face is slimmer. For black and white, make-up should be applied a bit darker.

Gentlemen

Please wear a dark suit with a light solid shirt without collar buttons and a matching tie. Your suit should fit comfortably and not tight. If you've rounded out a bit, bring a shirt that fits your neck properly. A haircut is recommended at least one week before your portrait session. If shaving before the portrait session, be careful to avoid nicks.
