The Copyright Act (U.S. Code, Title 17) protects photographers by giving the author of the photograph the exclusive right to reproduce client's and all other photographs created by the photographer. This includes the right to control the making of copies. It is ILLEGAL to copy or reproduce a photographer's photographs elsewhere without express written permission. Violators of the Federal Law will be subject to its civil and criminal penalties. All photographs by Dan Murphy / All About Faces Photography are protected by U.S. Copyright Laws. Photographs may not be copied, reproduced, computer scanned or used for other artist's renditions. Purchasing photographs does not include copyright, but the enjoyment of of displaying said photographs. Copying a photographer's photographs prohibits said photographer from earning an honest living. A photofinisher, or any individual making copies of professional work which has a clear or altered copyright notice is breaking Federal Law. this includes copying school, wedding, family portraits and commercial and other photography assignments. In the early 1990s, Congress doubled the the statutory damage amounts from $50,000. to $100,000. per infringed photographic image.
